The Vilnius International Film Festival "Kino Pavasaris" (Lithuanian for: Spring) invites its audience and international industry representatives from the 22nd March to 6th April for the 22nd time for a trip through the international independent and arthouse cinema landscape. Over 200 films in a total of 20 sections, from family entertainment to VR films, are screened. One of the most important sections is the "New Europe, New Names" competition, launched in 2009, which shows films by young filmmakers from Central and Eastern Europe. With Bogdan Mirică's DOGS (Romania, France, Bulgaria, Qatar), Attila Till's KILLS ON WHEELS (Hungary) and Jan Matuszyński's LAST FAMILY (Poland) compete three films for the awards for Best Film, Best Director, Best actress and Best actor, which were to be seen at the FilmFestival Cottbus in 2016. With Žiga Vircs HOUSTON, WE HAVE A PROBLEM (Slovenia, Croatia, Germany, Qatar) in the section "I am a Hybrid" and THE MAN WHO KNEW 75 LANGUAGES, which ran in Cottbus in the section Home / Domownja, rwo more Cottbus films are shoen in the Lithuanian capital.

Bernd Buder, programme director of the FilmFestival Cottbus, will join the "Meeting Point Vilnius" industry meeting at Kino Pavasaris from 4th to 6th April to scout for new films. The main focus of the project presentations is on the Baltic States' cinema, documentary films from Belarus and the cooperation opportunities between the new EU Member States.
