The Riga International Film Festival will be held for the third time in the Latvian capital from 7th to 17th September. More than 120 films are shown in nine sections.
The competition presents a cross-genre programme with films from the Baltic Sea countries - feature and documentary films which are characterized by specific, demanding artistic approaches.
Bernd Buder, programme director of the FilmFestival Cottbus, will join the jury together with Dovilė Butnoriūtė, head of the Lithuanian Film Center's Promotion Department, Lenka Tyrpáková, programmer of the “East of the West” competition at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, Timo Malmi, Artistic Director of the Midnight Sun Film Festivals in Lapland, and the Latvian filmmaker and film theorist Dāvis Sīmanis. With the "BEAST - Europe's New Promises" section, the Riga International Film Festival has introduced a program to present current feature films from Eastern Europe.
