Traditionally, the FilmFestival Cottbus presents one of its award-winning films at its partner film festival Max-Ophüls-Prize in Cottbus' partner city Saarbrücken.
This year, together with our colleagues in Saarbrücken, we are showing Đức Ngô Ngọc's FAREWELL HALONG. The visually stunning, sensitively observed documentary film on the resettlement of residents of a floating village in the Halong Bay on the mainland asks the question of the relationship between identity and economic growth. At the FFC 2017, it was honored with DIALOGUE Award for Intercultural Understanding. Bernd Buder, programme director of the FilmFestival Cottbus, joins the Saarbrücken film festival from January 24th to 27th. For 39 years, the Max Ophüls Prize has been providing a solid and exciting overview on the young generations of filmmakers from the German-speaking countries Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
