Films from and about the province are the focus of the "Provinziale" film festival, which takes place for the 15th time in Eberswalde from 6 to 13 October. The programme focuses on 39 films from 19 countries of production in the competition sections for documentary, short fiction, animated and short documentary films. The festival opens with the German premiere of Katarzyna Trzaska's VILLAGE OF SWIMMING COWS, which observes the culture clash between three neo-hippies moving from Berlin to a remote Polish village and it’s local inhabitants. The programme also features  Đức Ngô Ngọcs FAREWELL HALONG, which won the Dialogue Prize for Understanding between Cultures at the FFC in 2017. The prizes in the competitions are awarded by three juries and the audience. Bernd Buder, programme director of the FilmFestival Cottbus, together with the artist and curator Miro Zahra and the journalist and filmmaker Holger Lauinger will take part in the jury of the documentary film competition. With its specialised and carefully curated programme, the "Provinziale" is, alongside the FFC, the Jewish Film Festival Berlin & Brandenburg, the Bad Saarow “Film Without Borders” festival and other film festivals, an integral part of the lively and diverse film festival scene in Brandenburg.
