FFC's expertise at MIDPOINT Feature Launch 2021

Bernd Buder, programme director of the FFC, is part of an industry expert team during the Feature Launch 2021 Workshop as part of the co-production market “When East Meets West” at the 32nd Trieste Film Festival.

Today is the day: The Trieste Film Festival opens its digital doors and invites the audience to stream over 50 films. Again, various side events will take place as part of the festival. The MIDPOINT Feature Launch 2021 is one of those: A unique training platform for emerging talents aimed at scouting the most talented filmmakers and producers of the future who are developing their first or second feature film projects. In accordance to the theme of the festival, it focuses primarily on creative teams from Central and Eastern Europe.

The young professionals of eight selected projects are offered consultations by film industry experts. One of them being Bernd Buder, programme director of the FFC. Following, at the “When East Meets West” co-production market (25.-27.01.2021), these projects are presented during the Feature Launch Spotlight to an industry audience.

Trieste Film Festival is held from 21st until 30th of January, 2021. It developed into the leading Italian film festival on Central Eastern European Cinema. A special homage to Balkan cinema about the former Yugoslav War is planned to be screened in theatres in spring, date to be confirmed. Additionally, the new section WILD ROSES: WOMEN FILMMAKERS IN EUROPE is introduced. Each year a group of talented female filmmakers from a different country is chosen, with 2021’s focus on directors from Poland. The 32nd edition has evolved into a big online event: 90 film selections and events organised into a daily calendar. All content will remain accessible for 72 hours after its first showing. The festival will be available in Italy only.

Trieste Film Festival is part of the young network “Moving Images – Open Boarders” (MIOB), whose members (Festival de Sevilla, Crossing Europe Film Festival Linz, European Film Festival Palić, Les Arcs European Film Festival, Scanorama European Film Forum Vilnius, Trieste Film Festival, FilmFestival Cottbus) are pursuing, among other things, the goal of strengthening the common interests of film festivals with a European focus and consolidating a European network.
