In cinemas September 7th: FFC Film Fools
The film Fools (Tomasz Wasilewski PL/DE, 2022) will be released in Germany! exsystent Filmverleih won with Fools the "From Cottbus to Cinema" award in 2022 . The prize is endowed with 10,000 euros by Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg and helps films find their way into the cinema. Jakob Kijas from exsystent Filmverleih explains: "It takes money to get a film into the cinema, this prize makes it easier for us, we can finance the marketing, for example. Thank you very much that the medienboard and the FilmFestival Cottbus have chosen us as award winners." The prize will be handed out again at the FFC in 2023.
It is the story of Marlena and her partner Tomasz, who is several years younger. The couple live in a lonely house by the sea, happy with each other and with life in their secluded world. Their everyday routine is turned upside down when Marlena decides against Tomek's will to let her (estranged, now) seriously ill son Mikolaj move in. Not only the gruelling care soon casts a shadow over their relationship: more and more, Mikolaj's move-in brings to light family secrets that have been hidden for many years.
