The 11th Kozzi Krafftówna Łomnicki Film and Theatre Festival has awarded its prizes

From 9 to 12 June, the Kozzi Krafftówna Łomnicki Film and Theater Festival took place for the eleventh time in Cottbus' twin city Zielona Góra.

Joshua Jadi, deputy programme director of the FFC, was a guest and presented some German films in the programme.

In competition, the jury, chaired by film critic Łukasz Maciejewski and festival programme director Dr Andrzej Buck, awarded the festival's top prize to Bartosz Blaschke's SONATA, the authentic story of a deaf boy who becomes a star musician despite his disability.

The prize for best acting performance went to Magdalena Żak in Filip Gieldon's impressive youth film MAGDALENA about a deaf-mute woman who does everything to go to Berlin as a DJane. Lech Dyblik won Best Supporting Actor for his role as a music teacher in SONATA.

For the first time in Kozzi Film Festival history, a youth jury distributed an award, consisting of: Lidia Compel, Karolina Gleń, Marzena Kapusta, Hanna Kuchta, Paweł Skrzypczak, Zofia Wajdzik students from the V. Lyceum "Krzysztof Kieślowski" in Zielona Góra - this school also sends participants for the student jury at the FFC.

The prize went to FEARS by Łukasz Ronduda and Łukasz Gutt and will be awarded at the KFF PostScriptum in September.

FEARS describes the difficult balancing act of a homosexual in the Polish province who admits to being gay and to belonging to his home village in equal measure.

Thus the main prizes went to three thematically interesting current Polish films, one or the other of which could also end up at the FFC ... .
