A young Sorbian caught between love for her homeland and a sense of wanderlust. How does one unite tradition and progress when there is such a fine line between cliché and culture? Is it possible to tread new paths and have an open mind to more modern perspectives without losing your identity in the process?

The video shows a young woman busy with “typical” Sorbian activities, decorating eggs, dancing and in traditional costume. In this music clip, produced within the framework of a 12^thgrade seminar at the Lower Lusatian Grammar School, Cottbus, adolescents discuss their perceptions of what it means to be a Sorb. Questions pertaining to the future play a significant role in matters both major and minor.

Stefan Göbel - born 1988 in Cottbus, GDR. From 2009 to 2013 he studied audio-visual media with a focus on directing, photography and editing at the Academy of Arts in Breda, the Netherlands. Since returning to his hometown in 2013 Göbel has worked as a freelance editor and video journalist at Berlin-Brandenburg Broadcasting (rbb), whilst he also works as an actor.
