2011-06-16 Doubled success for Cottbus films in Portugal
The 27th edition of the FESTROIA International Film Festival in Setubal in Portugal ended with the doubled joy of awards going to two films from the programme of last year`s FilmFestival Cottbus. The Cottbus main award winner 2010 WHITE, WHITE WORLD from Serbia, which was presented in Portugal by Festival Director Roland Rust personally as a presentation by the Cottbus FilmFestival, won the “Silver Dolphin” in the category “Best Director”. Director Oleg Novkovic thus continues with the triumphal advance of his visually stunning epic from the mining town of Bor in the international festival world.
The Serbian-German co-production THE WOMAN WITH A BROKEN NOSE by Srdjan Koljevic, which had opened the 20th anniversary edition of the Cottbus FilmFestival last November and soon will be shown in German cinemas under the title BELGRAD RADIO TAXI, received the “Silver Dolphin” in the category “Best Actor”. Nebojsa Glogovac was awarded the prize for his impressive performance as misanthropic taxi driver Gavril in present-day Belgrade, whose numbed, frozen life slowly begins to stir and open up again when it is triggered by the attempted suicide of a young passenger.
Amongst others, the Official Section Jury also included the young actress Anjorka Strechel, whom the FilmFestival Cottbus was able to welcome as a juror already in the past year.
