German-Russian co-production agreement signed

2011-08-01 German-Russian co-production agreement signed

Good news for German and Russian producers! After ten years of negotiations a co-production agreement between Germany and Russia was signed.

A significant part of this success was taken over by the work of the Förderverein Deutsch-Russische Filmakademie e.V. The realization of a co-production agreement was one of the key points on the agenda of this nonprofit organisation which was founded in summer 2009 by producers and people from the film business and which is situated in Cottbus.

The agreement is one part of a double success for the lobby work of the nonprofit organisation. Already at the end of June 2011 the founding of a Co-Development-Fonds was signed in Russia together with Russian Cinema, Filmförderungsanstalt (FFA), Medienboard and Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung (MDM). The fonds works as an early financial support for the development of German-Russian films and should support co-productions between both countries. More information on the regulations can be found shortly on the following website

Among the founding members of the Förderverein Deutsch-Russische Filmakademie e.V. are the head of the Board of Trustees of the FilmFestival Cottbus Bernd Schiphorst, FilmFestival Cottbus and pool production gmbh. The head of the Förderverein Deutsch-Russische Filmakademie e.V. Simone Baumann about the double success: "With the signment of both agreements we will provide very good conditions for the realization of common projects and for making films in both high-revenue cinema markets.“
