German Federal State of Brandenburg, Ministry of Economics
With targeted measures, the Ministry of Economics and European Affairs (MWE) supports the further improvement of the location′s quality, the increase of economic growth and occupation as well as the improvement of climate protection through the simultaneous ecological modernisation of industrial structures. From the very beginning onwards, the State of Brandenburg was the main sponsor of the FilmFestival Cottbus together with the City of Cottbus.

Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg GmbH
The Medienboard (Media Board) unites film funding and location marketing for Berlin-Brandenburg under one roof. It sponsors films, innovative content as well as film- and media-related projects at regional locations.

City of Cottbus
City of Cottbus - the Lausitz city is located south of the Spreewald between Berlin and Dresden. It is a university city and features many sports facilities and parks. In addition to the Cottbus State Theatre and the FilmFestival Cottbus, its range of diverse cultural attractions includes also Germany′s oldest cinema building "Weltspiegel", Schloss Branitz with its park, formerly the principle residence of Prince Hermann Ludwig Heinrich von Pückler-Muskau, the Kunstmuseum Dieselkraftwerk, a museum for contemporary art housed in a former power station, the Nacht der kreativen Köpfe (Night of Creative Heads), the service offers of the Cottbus Messe and Touristik (CMT, Cottbus Fair and Tourism) and many others.

Media
The aim of the European Union′s MEDIA programme is the promotion of the audio-visual heritage, the distribution of films across borders and maintaining the competitiveness of the audio-visual industry. The MEDIA programme acknowledges the cultural, social and economic significance of major European festivals by co-financing a large number of these each year.

Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs
The German Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs is responsible for the foreign policy as well as the German EU policy. With respect to the FilmFestival Cottbus, the activities in connection with so-called emerging countries are particularly supported. Furthermore, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs endows the DIALOG Prize for Intercultural Communication.

Federal Centre for Political Education
By means of diverse service offers, the Federal Centre for Political Education (BpB) promotes the understanding of political factual issues, the strengthening of political commitment and the consolidation of democratic conscience. The BpB supports the Focus programme of the FilmFestival Cottbus.

Gesellschaft zur Wahrnehmung von Film- und Fernsehrechten mbH
The Gesellschaft zur Wahrnehmung von Film- und Fernsehrechten mbH offers film and television producers and other film-makers administration services and support in collecting their copyright remuneration claims. In addition to the Main Prize for Best Film, the GWFF endows also a sponsorship award.

Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media
The German Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media supports and promotes cultural institutions and projects of national and general public importance; he or she contributes towards the continuous improvement of the framework conditions for art and culture.

The corporation′s goal is to provide attractive, safe and environmentally friendly vehicles, which are able to successfully stand their ground in the increasingly stiff competition in the automobile market and which constitute the world standard in their respective class. The Volkswagen AG provides the FilmFestival Cottbus with a vehicle fleet.

The IHK finances the German-Polish Youth Film Competition of the FilmFestival Cottbus.

As a regional head organization the Chamber of Handicrafts Cottbus is representing the interests of their member companies in the southern region of Brandenburg. In addition to the tasks transferred by the government, such as acceptance of testings or swearing in of experts, the Chamber offers an comprehensive selection of educational and training opportunities and a wide range of services for business advice and support. The Chamber of Handicrafts Cottbus dedicates the prize for best youth film of 1.500 € at this year′s festival.
