Cottbus looks for new feature and short films from Eastern, East Central and South Eastern Europe

From November 6th to 11th, 2018 the 28th edition of the FilmFestival Cottbus, one of the continent’s leading festivals for Central and Eastern European Cinema, is scheduled to take place. Featuring a total of up to 180 films from more than 30 countries over the course of six action-packed days, the festival has attained the status of a must-attend global event over recent years.

With almost € 80,000 of prize money up for grabs, including € 48,000 solely for the three main competitions Feature Film, Short Feature and U18 Youth Film, the festival is an attractive venue for ambitious filmmakers and producers.

Submission deadline is the August 1st, 2018. Later entries are negotiable.

Competitions at FilmFestival Cottbus

Feature Film Competition 
10 - 12 of the best current Central and East European feature film productions are competing for the main award. German premiere is required.

Short Feature Competition 
This competition provides an independent platform for the discovery and promotion of young filmmakers. The maximum running time of each film is 30 minutes. German premiere is required.

U18 Youth Film Competition 
The tri-national competition offers the unique opportunity to view current films for young people (full-length and mid-length works) from Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic.

Russkiy Den 
This programme is fully dedicated to the latest Russian productions.

Polskie Horyzonty 
Discoveries from Poland’s vibrant film industry are presented.

National Hits 
East European Blockbusters that are commercially successful in their countries of origin are presented to a new audience.

Children’s Film 
Current East European productions for the youngest viewers are introducing children to the medium of foreign films.
