Barbara Wallbraun + Menschenrechtszentrum Cottbus e. V. + Media To Be e. V. (Regie/Projektleitung) - studied cultural and media education and is a freelance filmmaker. After seven years of work, she completed her feature-length debut "UFERFRAUEN - Lesbisches L(i)eben in der DDR" in 2019, which successfully screened at national and international festivals and won numerous awards. In this Grimme Award-nominated documentary, six lesbian protagonists tell their life stories. Wallbraun organises projects for intergenerational lesbian exchange, moderates film evenings and discussion groups and lectures on the topics "Women in the Film Business", "East Berlin Lesbian History" and "Lesbians in the Sight of the State Security Service". Barbara Wallbraun also works as a freelance film facilitator with children and young people in Saxony. The focus of her media education work is on socio-political topics such as "being different", GDR history, anti-Semitism and racism prevention. Wallbraun sees herself as an "activist in the background" for queer issues.
