Programme director Bernd Buder will be a guest at this year's filmPolska festival in Berlin and will attend a Q&A session on the film UNDER THE VOLCANO at the fsk cinema on September 11th at 8 p.m.
The film by Damian Kocur (PL, 2024, 105 min) was screened in the FFC's feature film competition in 2024 and follows a family from Kyiv who are surprised by news of war in their homeland while on holiday in Tenerife. Their return flight is cancelled and they struggle to come to terms with their new reality in what they thought was paradise. The teenage daughter Sofia in particular suffers from her outsider status – as a teenager, a stranger and now also a refugee. The 20th filmPolska Festival will take place from September 10th to 17th in Berlin and Potsdam and will showcase the diversity of Polish cinema.
