FilmFestival Cottbus @ Kozzi Festival: Co-operation in Zielona Góra

From 26 to 31 May, the Stuhr Pszoniak Kosłowski Kozzi Film and Theatre Festival once again invites you to Zielona Góra. The focus: current Polish cinema, action-packed genre films and tributes to the eponymous acting greats Jerzy Stuhr, Wojciech Pszoniak and Maciej Kozłowski. The latter, born in Kargowa near Zielona Góra, died young - the festival is nicknamed ‘Kozzi’ in his honour. In addition to film screenings, the festival also offers theatre productions and concerts.

The FilmFestival Cottbus (FFC) has enjoyed a close partnership with the Kozzi Festival for over a decade - and will be back again in 2025. Current German films will be shown in the joint ‘Cinema at the Border’ series.

On 10 April, FFC programme director Bernd Buder presented the poetic documentary SOWING THE SEEDS OF THE WILD at a pre-event in the Norwid Library - the heart of the Kozzi Festival. Director Dyba Lach accompanies a musician who, together with his daughter, rows 1300 kilometres on Polish rivers to the mouth of the Oder - a cinematic, meditative appeal against environmental destruction. Environmental initiatives such as Osoba Odra and Ekspedycja 404 presented their work after the screening. The film will be shown at the FFC in November in the EcoEast section.
