Last weekend, the MIOB New Vision Award was presented for the sixth time as part of the Crossing Europe Film Festival Linz 2026 (April 28 – May 3, 2026) in Linz. The award went to VETRE, PRIČAJ SA MNOM / WIND, TALK TO ME(SR/SI/HR 2025, 100 minutes), directed by Stefan Đorđević.

In his intimate hybrid film, Stefan Đorđević returns to his native village in Serbia for the first time since his mother’s death. There, he resumes a film project he had once begun about her—focusing on her experience with cancer and her decision to retreat to a remote cabin in the woods to pursue alternative treatments.

The MIOB New Vision Award is dedicated to contemporary European feature films and documentaries that have already gained recognition at one of the seven festivals within the MIOB network—including the FilmFestival Cottbus. Its aim is to increase the international visibility of these works and to highlight outstanding arthouse productions distinguished by a strong cinematic approach and unique artistic voice. At the same time, the network explores new ways of promoting European cinema in the digital age. The award is endowed with €3,000 and also includes screenings of the winning film across other MIOB festivals.

The story of the European film festival network Moving Images – Open Borders (MIOB) began in 2017, when the Crossing Europe Film Festival Linz joined forces with six renowned European festivals to launch the initiative. Since then, MIOB has connected festivals that share a passion for European cinema and seek to provide it with a sustainable platform enriched by context.
