Gynaecologist Masha leads a stressful life and yet she's happy. Work is all-consuming, and then there's the housework and children to take care of. She generally rounds off her days utterly exhausted in bed. Between her and husband Misha, who likewise works, everything would appear to be fine. And then comes the shock: he's having an affair with a younger woman.
Of all people it's the fitness studio teacher of the class she practically had to force Misha to attend that poses a threat to the couple's marital bliss. In a display of strength, she resolves to tackle the issue head-on: she tells him to pack his bags, demands a divorce and tries to get by as best she can. A casual hook-up of her own is intended to take her mind of things, and yet her new approach to life only brings chaos at work and suffering to her children, who find themselves neglected as a result. Coming to the realisation that she ultimately doesn't want to be separated from Misha, she resorts to all the weapons at the disposal of a woman in her thirties in the struggle for her unfaithful husband.
In this romantic drama rich in humorous moments, the director's feature film debut, Annas Parmas portrays the image of a strong woman, in turn wonderfully performed and embodied by Anna Mikhalkova. At this year's Kinotavr Russian Film Festival the film won both the “Best Feature Film” and the “Best Screenplay” awards. MM
