D do D. An Attempt at an introduction to Derzhavin's Biography
Russia, 2014, 23 Min
A experimental documentary that turns the spotlight on the city of Kazan with the help of references to the poetry of Gavrila Derzhavin, the Volga River and the city's Tatar population.
In 1968 Victor Sosnora wrote the parable “From Derzhavin to Derzhavin”, dedicated to one of 18th century Russia's leading poets, whom the author considered a classicist, metaphysician and also a futurist, despite his having served as an officer of the state. A cinematic attempt at fusing the genres of biographical film and city portrait. BW
