Romanian Marinela relies on the translation skills of her daughter Ilinca for her official visit, but the 8-year-old has other plans. Full of colorful misunderstandings, a child's wishes meet her mother's existential worries.
Marinela is an overburdened single mother in the middle of Austria. The fact that the Romanian hardly speaks a word of German does not facilitate her efforts to obtain accommodation and thus a residence permit in Austria. To make matters worse, she has her 8-year-old daughter Ilinca with her as a translator, but she has wishes of a completely different existential nature. With a lot of humor and yet full of seriousness, the Romanian actress Brigitta Kanyaro tells of the narrow-mindedness of the Austrian bureaucracy and an immigrant's fear of being prejudged.
