POCHOD

THE MARCH

Michal Blaško
Slovakia, 2018, 20 Min

In the aftermath of a violent attack on a young girl the village's Roma community comes under suspicion. Thousands come together under the pretext of a “protest against violence”, as the pressure on the local administration and those unwilling to protest grows.

Those who aren't with me are against me: a provincial town doesn't waste any time in hunting for the accused in an abuse case. False testimony and prejudice provoke a nationwide uproar in which there is no space for discussion or neutrality. The opinions one is able to express at home and in public drift apart, whilst intimidation prevails over moral courage. And yet far away from this commotion coming generations build friendships.

Having previously enjoyed success in Cottbus with ATLANTIS, 2003 (FFC 2017), for which he was awarded with the Main Prize of the Short Film Competition, Michal Blaško returns with renewed proof that he refuses to shy away from broaching controversial political issues. DJ
