LA Mia Classe

My Class

Young migrants from all over the world attend an Italian lesson: Behind the scenes of the apparently easygoing atmosphere between the students and teacher personal tragedies come to light; These include stories of war, impoverishment and risk-fraught escapes. The everyday classroom atmosphere is overshadowed by the migrants' personal uncertainty. Residence permits aren't extended, and the hope of starting anew in Italy often ends in a detention centre or suicide. The teacher is an actor, the migrants and the fate they meet are genuine however. WMH
