The poetic imagery of ZIMA leads the viewer into the winter landscapes north of the Arctic Circle. Its inhabitants speak of the challenge to survive at minus forty degrees; an asylum seeker longs for his homeland of Nigeria, whilst villagers jump into the ice-cold water on January 6th.

Cristina Picchi - – born 1981 in Lucca. Studied documentary film at Goldsmiths University in London. ZIMA was awarded with the prize for Best Short Film at the Locarno International Film Festival and also nominated for the European Film Awards.
