60 KILO NICZEGO

60 KILOS OF NOTHING

Piotr Domalewski
Poland, 2017, 27 Min

What do you do when the only right thing is forbidden? As he is working illegally on the construction site, a Ukrainian worker is denied medical help when he has an accident. When the site manager defies the boss's order, he is faced with an insoluble dilemma and turns from helper to perpetrator.

Munk Studio - Polish Filmmakers Association

It is site manager Krzysztof’s first working day on a new construction site. He calls the emergency doctor after there is an accident. But on the orders of the boss, the injured man is hidden instead of being treated: the Ukrainian is illegal in the country and working illicitly. Just like his colleagues, who accept the cover-up as part of the agreement. But Krzysztof still wants to help. In an effort to do the right thing, he involuntarily chooses the worst alternative. The director Piotr Domalewski criticises real circumstances with his desperate hero: in 2016, more than half a million Ukrainian moonlighters were working in Poland. ST
