BESTER MANN

MAIN MAN

Florian Forsch
Germany, Austria, 2018, 44 Min

Two young men meet by chance in the forest. The younger one, Kevin, rides a bicycle and would like to have more self-confidence. The older one, Benni, rides a motorbike and says you just have to get yourself more respect. Kevin thinks he has found a friend. But his admiration for Benni quickly turns into dependence and this dependence into emotional blackmail.

Salzgeber & Co. Medien GmbH

Kevin is constantly being bullied and made a fool of. Two guys just stole his things in the middle of the forest and let the air out of his bike. Benni happens to be standing on the forest road with his motorcycle and helps him, he drives the two boys away. Benni is nearly twice as old as Kevin, confident and knows how the world works. He is allegedly a talent scout, collects fancy sneakers and wears tank tops with pithy slogans. Kevin is fascinated by this older guy. He wants to be photographed by Benni, even if the photos become more and more revealing. He thinks he has found a friend, but Benni has his own plans. He wants to persuade Kevin with every trick in the book to agree to do something that he objects to strongly.

A poignantly staged medium-length feature film about friendship and blackmail, about seduction and violation, about right-wing ideology and dirty dealings. Florian Forsch's graduation film at the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne is based on an authentic event. WMH

MAIN MAN will be presented by our partner festival, the Filmfestival Max-Ophüls-Preis in Saarbrücken.
