A BOX FULL OF GUILT

Marco Wojciechowski
Poland, Germany, 2018, 21 Min

How deep are the wounds torn by National Socialism and its atrocities? And can one accuse the Germans of a general guilt? Well-known questions on which this film seeks answers in its own way.

1996 at the German-Polish border. Kamuel locates a metal box from the Second World War on a military site. Inside is the death list of SS Unterscharführer Friedrich Weiss. He wants to confront the man, but meets only his daughter and granddaughter. In the crosstalk a misfortune happens – and Kamuel flees. Fifty years after the triggering events, this short film by Marco Wojciechowski sometimes seems bizarre and exaggerated. But guilt, revenge and forgiveness know no statute of limitations. NaF
