PEWNEGO RAZU W LISTOPADZIE

ONCE UPON A TIME IN NOVEMBER

Andrzej Jakimowski
Poland, 2017, 88 Min

Social criticism that gets under your skin. Law student Marek, his mother and dog Koleś are evicted and end up on the street. They find shelter in a left-alternative cultural centre. The situation is escalating as right-wing national demonstrators want to storm the house on Polish Independence Day. How long can you barricade yourself?

WIDE Management

After he and his mother have lost the roof over their heads, Marek manages only with difficulty to maintain the appearance of normalcy that is demanded of every person. He goes to college, meets his girlfriend, works part-time. But the three are constantly looking for a new shelter in Warsaw and finally find it in a left-alternative cultural centre. But such facilities are not always viewed positively. On the day of Polish independence, aggressive right-wing demonstrators are trying to storm the house. In fact, about 60,000 people took part in the marches in 2016, causing violence and riots. Uneasiness is elevated as Andrzej Jakimowski interweaves documentary footage of nationalist demonstrations and riots on Polish Independence Day with the story of a social crash. RP
