Saga Film

Viorel is in his early twenties and lives together with his mother in a remote provincial town in the Republic of Moldova. Together with his friend, who goes by the nickname of Goose, he deals marijuana. Viorel is unambitious; he only accepts a job at the police canteen organised by the local head of police and once colleague of his late father, as his mother threatens to otherwise throw him out of the house. Goose's sole passion is a home-made hand glider, with which despite numerous attempts he never actually manages to fly. Only when he falls in love with hairdresser Maria, the girlfriend of Goose's former fellow dealer, does Viorel finally find the motivation to take matters into his own friends. His decisions, however, have serious consequences.

With LA LIMITA DE JOS A CERULUI the Moldovan director Igor Cobileanski presents a stylistically consistent, sombre cinema début characterised by its realism, recurrent flashes of humour and outstanding cast. Cobileanski wrote the script together with the Romanian director Corneliu Porumboiu, winner of the Golden Palm for A FOST SAU N-A FOST? (12:08 EAST OF BUCHAREST).The expressive camera work was in turn carried out by renowned Romanian cameraman Oleg Mutu, winner of the Golden Palm for 4 LUNI, 3 SĂPTĂMÂNI ȘI 2 ZILE (4 MONTHS, 3 WEEKS AND 2 DAYS).
