Trilogie Zahradnictví III: NÁPADNÍK

Garden Store Trilogy III: SUITOR

Jan Hřebejk
Czech Republic, 2017, 130 Min

Daniela, daughter of a good family in Prague, has fallen in love with Mirek, a young man from the country. Daniela's father does not like this at all, he has other plans for her – and already a groom in the wings. The narrative tone of the concluding part of the trilogy is lighter than in the films before, but drama still arises in this romantic comedy.

As on every free weekend, Mirek makes his way from Jaroměř to Prague to meet his beloved and take her to the theatre. Daniela's father Jindřich, who has a better match for his daughter, forces her to attend a meeting with his old friends from the resistance, so that Mirek has to wait for hours freezing in front of the house. Luckily, Daniela's cheeky little sister Jindřiška is around.

The third part of ZAHRADNICTVÍ takes place in the second half of the 1950s, when fear and surveillance were still omnipresent, but were also a time that began to expose and name the crimes and treachery of the previous decades, both in real history as well as in the film. This is also a prequel to Jan Hřebejk's cult comedy PELIŠKY | COSY DENS from 1999, which turns the cheeky little Jindřiška in the focus of the story. CF
