Saving One Who Was Dead

Václav Kadrnka
Czech Republic, Slovakia, 2021, 90 Min

Life and death: a man is in a coma. His wife and son stand by him at his bedside in defiance of fate and the dire prognosis of the doctors in this case for taking time for your loved ones as they near the end of life.

“Mama is sitting on your left and I'm sitting on your right. We are close to you. Open your eyes. Look at us ”: in hospital a son talks to his unconscious, comatose father. He and his mother even move into a visitor room to see father every day, to hold his hand and to talk to him. For the doctors, however, there is little hope. The patient's condition has stabilised, yet continues to stagnate.
