Generation Z: music, drunkenness and jealousy, Instagram posts and first sex. With first love comes a test for the friendship of two inseparable teenage girls in this captivating yet sombre portrait of a generation lost amongst the competition for social media followers and the longing for real relationships.

Though adolescence may now consist of neon-coloured posts and pulsating trap beats, the stress of growing up hasn't changed much. When it comes to bashful Maya and wild Jana the roles would appear to be clearly divided. And yet, nevertheless, it is Maya who wins the race for their mutual crush Kris; or at least she does before backing down at the last second. Instead Elena, a newcomer, enters the fray. Thus begins an unpredictable series of ups and downs full of wild party excesses and breakneck car trips towards a supposed freedom. Ultimately a sex video of dubious origin goes viral and, after a tragic accident, nothing is as it used to be or could soon have been. Marvellous imagery and two leading actresses who combine wonderfully make SISTERHOOD an impressively captivating mental portrait of Generation Z; restlessly moving between double standards, remorse and the pressure not to tell the truth at any cost.
