A relentless police thriller staged in the captivatingly captured setting of a provincial town in Romania. Hot-headed policeman Florin tries to blame a young Roma for a crime yet soon begins to lose control of the scenario. Is it all about justice or rather cold-blooded vengeance?

Florin obsessively attempts to investigate the mysterious arson attacks on two tourist hotels, even though these were actually assigned to his colleague. Florin doesn't let that hold him back: he conducts his own investigations, even in defiance of the orders of his superiors. In the course thereof he allows his actions to be increasingly guided by his destructive passions. Though constantly on the verge of being exposed, he is assisted in this undertaking by a corrupt system rife with anti-Romany sentiment, neglect and shared loyalties within the force. With this at times calm yet haunting genre masterpiece, Bogdan George Apetri manages to walk the fine tightrope between subtle criticism of the system and an unsparing stocktaking of the human condition. All of this is captured in the fantastic imagery of the Romanian star cameraman Oleg Mutu who manages to magically light up the rather dreary Romanian provincial town of Piatra Neamt.
