Young photographer Isaac heads from Australia
to Greece in order to scatter his father's
ashes. Once there he learns of a terrible
family secret. The search for the truth
leads Isaac to Paris and then Budapest;
Slowly but surely he finds himself submerged
in a European world of misery where anti-Semitism
continues to flourish and the guilt of
the past is handed down to present generations.
Tony Krawitz's visually impressive feature
film début is based on Christos Tsiolkas'
eponymous novel and portrays Europe as a
grim stage on which the forgotten victims of
yesterday's crimes demand retribution.
