The district of Praga, the “workhouse” of Warsaw: twelve-year-old Damian spends his afternoons together with the unemployed Miecio painting flats for a few Złoty. Alternatively he sits with Monika, a pregnant Vietnamese girl, by the waterfront of the old harbour and tells of his father, who he has in fact never met. He was a Scottish football player, at least according to his mother, who met him twelve years ago in a Glasgow pub, where she worked as a barmaid... One day however Damian is old enough to find out the whole truth.
