Road-Movie

Czech Republic, 2015, 88 Min

Jakub returns to his home town for a family celebration, where he encounters Ilona, an old school friend. On the spur of the moment the two resolve to set off on a road trip, during which they speak about God and the world, and come to the conclusion that they have almost diametrically opposed perceptions of the world and of happiness.

Jakub has founded a successful start-up in Prague. On returning to his home town for his mother's birthday he encounters his childhood friend Ilona. Spontaneously the two decide to escape, and head off in the direction of Vienna, before talk turns to Italy. When it turns out that Ilona is deadly serious, the pair understand that they embody two very different world views: young entrepreneur Jakub is rational and pragmatic whilst Ilona, who has ditched her medicine studies to lead a more rewarding life, is full of youthful idealism. A charming work with an entertaining take on perceptions of happiness amongst contemporary youths. JN/AS
