The sequel to WHAT MEN TALK ABOUT (2010) gives renewed evidence of the talents of both the "Quartet I" film team and director Dmitriy Diachenko. The film elaborates upon the psychology of the now widely-recognisable lead figures, middle-aged men who lead varied and prosperous lives constrained solely by the expectations of their unambitious wives and girlfriends.
This production, ostensibly aimed at adults, also holds an interest for younger viewers to the extent that the high profile the actors enjoy domestically allows them to serve and speak as role models of sorts.
How amusing it is to observe that these ostensible grown-ups, who drive around in expensive cars and work in luxury offices, have nevertheless failed to genuinely grow up. Regardless of how often they move from one relationship to the next, they nevertheless remain under the thumb.
The alpha male affectation doesn't suffice to disguise their vulnerability and isolation. A light-hearted take on the widespread male fears of the transience of success and the unavoidable process of growing old. AP
