Spanish children take flight both from the Nazis and their fellow countrymen in the snow-covered Russian countryside: The German Army stands on the outskirts of Moscow, side-by-side with Franco's so-called Blue Division. ISPANSI (Russian for Spaniards) narrates the epic encounter of Spanish fascists, communists and child refugees in the Russian winter and the rare moments of conciliation between deadly enemies. Director and leading actor Carlos Iglesias, who grew up as the child of immigrant workers in Switzerland, shot the external scenes of the Russian winter in the Swiss Canton of Jura.
