East of the Wall

Berlin in the mid-eighties. Felix lives in West Berlin, Thomas in the East. They're smitten with each other, and try to enjoy the few hours they have together. As the feelings grow so do the doubts however; The Berlin Wall appears to be an insurmountable hurdle. The only way out would appear to be an escape to the West via Prague. Wieland Speck's WESTLER is a classic of queer cinema, known for its rugged beauty and historic footage from the former Tränenpalast border crossing. Partly captured on 8mm camera, the material was then smuggled over the tightly guarded border.
