Land of Flowers

Jörg Foth
GDR, 1975/76, 25 Min
Filmuniversität Babelsberg „Konrad Wolf“

Foth‘s work on apprentices in the artificial flower
industry admittedly belongs to the quintessential
GDR film genre of worker and group portraits.
What makes this work different however is first
and foremost the way in which it undermines
the genre‘s imperatives, with a striking visual
aesthetic, rock music and motorcycle journeys.
