A listless walk through the streets of Minsk: clothed in a cheap, shining spacesuit made of aluminium an individual trudges across the city, akin to a visitor from another planet. Passing banks, monuments and urban wastelands, the city comes across as abandoned as the enigmatic figure in silver makes its way across the capital.

In rhythm to the music animated creatures light up – the motifs of old Belarusian currency which has long been made insignificant by the colossal and ongoing inflation. Imposing bank and office buildings made of concrete and glass symbolise a supposedly prosperous economy. The film, similar in style to a music video, sends the viewer on a visual trip that requires no psychedelic ingredients. The experimental style: highly uncharacteristic of Belarusian cinema.

Ultimately the message is clear: in place of end titles the viewer is provided with evidence of the remarkable loss in value that the Belarusian Ruble has suffered since independence. MM
