Tudor Giurgiu - Tudor Giurgiu is a member of the European Film Academy and the founder and president of the Transilvania International Film Festival (TIFF). His feature‐length debut, Legături bolnăvicioase, was selected for the Panorama section of the 2006 Berlinale and went on to win awards at several international festivals. His 2011 short film Superman, Spiderman sau Batman earned the Best European Short award at the 2012 European Film Academy Awards.
Giurgiu’s second feature, Despre oameni și melci, was honored at both the Warsaw International Film Festival and the Valladolid International Film Festival. De ce eu?, a gripping legal thriller based on a real‐life corruption case in contemporary Romania, premiered at the 2015 Berlinale. His film Libertate, inspired by true events during the Romanian Revolution, won prizes at Sarajevo and Arras and took home Best Film at the Gopo Awards. Most recently, Nasty (2024)—the story of tennis legend Ilie Năstase’s life and career—had its international premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.
