AZ ÉN XX. SZÁZADOM
MY 20th CENTURY
Performance
The fates of the two sisters cross paths again in adulthood aboard the Orient Express, with their destinies further shaped by a shared love for the mysterious Z (portrayed by actor Oleg Yankovsky, known among other roles from Tarkovsky’s MIRROR). This film, which marked the professional debut of world-renowned Hungarian director Ildikó Enyedi, is described by the filmmaker herself as her freest work. With a generous 72 shooting days at her disposal, she created a work that, with both irony and tenderness, turns toward the dawn of cinema and modernity to reveal the abundance of opportunities and streams of thought brought by the early 20th century - as well as the dangers still lurking quietly in the background.
