Orphaned and subsequently raised by his beloved grandfather, Koza enjoys life to the fullest. In the maelstrom of the post-socialist era he runs riot, making up for bad grades by having sex with his teacher whilst, in his copious free time, honing the skating skills that he hopes will soon afford him a trip to LA. With pro tips from West Coast legend "Tin" Trujillo, it would seem that nothing can go wrong, and the Nazi skinheads are anyway too stupid to get in his way. When he starts dating Zora however, things suddenly cease going to plan.
In a boldly edited collage of fast-paced scenes that possess a video clip aesthetic, magical realism, and classic culture clash motifs, what initially is a celebration of 1990s retro aesthetics gradually finds itself transformed into a richly layered portrait of a society in transition – in a city where every stone breathes history. In order to lend the characters depth and authenticity, the film crew worked closely with the local Roma community.
