Valentin Fogoros - Valentin-Rareș Fogoroș is an emerging documentary and fiction director from Bucharest, Romania. He has completed three short documentaries, one of which received an honorable mention at the Astra Film Festival and has just finished a fiction film funded by the French Ministry of Defense titled “AID”.
Drawing inspiration from his personal experience documenting a refugee mother’s fight to secure an EU passport for her child during Ukraine’s refugee crisis. His journey took him from Romania’s border, where he filmed the chaotic process of obtaining documents, to Ukraine and Milan, where the family reunited for the child’s first birthday. Along the way, Valentin witnessed both the resilience of refugees and the darker sides of human nature, including profiteering, human trafficking, and smuggling.
These experiences inspired his latest project, a film about a smuggler who discovers a refugee child in his van. Through their unlikely bond, the story explores human connection, redemption, and moral dilemmas.
