35 Jahre Deutsche Einheit: SERBSKA NARODNA ZHROMADŹIZNA

The video captures, by means of footage captured on handheld camera, activities of the Serbska narodna zhromadźizna/Sorbian National Assembly. This film document, featuring footage from Bautzen and Berlin, consists of four parts. The first shows an event on December 16, 1989, at the Kolpinghaus in Bautzen. The second shows Jan Malink, as a representative of the Sorbian Round Table, at the Central Round Table of the GDR, in Berlin, on January 15, 1990. He had a seat there as an observer, without voting rights. The third part shows footage of a meeting, held in a private apartment, of the Sorbian National Assembly's initiative group in March 1990. The last part documents the extraordinary congress of the Domowina on March 17, 1990. There, Jan Malink, as a representative of the Sorbian National Assembly, applied for the office of Domowina chair. For the most part, it is meetings and assemblies that were filmed; the speeches at these meetings were recorded on camera. Most of them were held in Upper Sorbian. This approximately 6-minute compilation provides brief insights into the hour-long film documentary.
