Lena (Risten Anine Kvernmo Gaup) returns to her home-town in Northern Norway together with her son. She wants to live there temporarily while working on an art project about women reindeer herders. A decision Lena once made haunts her to this day. During conversations, potential interviewees treat the returnee with suspicion. Only Mahtte Nils (Ailu Kemi), himself a reindeer herder, is openly friendly to her – and the two fall in love. And yet their relationship is put to the test by their two mothers and Lena's past. Sara Margrethe Oskal's sensitive feature film debut tells of the great importance of reindeer herding within Sami culture whilst simultaneously allowing different views on the role of tradition to collide.

Sara Margrethe Oskal - Sara Margrethe Oskal, is a director, screenwriter, actress and poet, born and raised in Guovdageaidnu/ Kautokeino, Norway. She grew up in a reindeer herding family and was a reindeer herder for ten years until she chose the Arts as a wayof living. She holds a PhD in Performing Arts from the Oslo National Academy of Arts, Norway, where she researched humor, joik, storytelling and contemporary stage expressions and created the award winning one woman show Guksin Guollemuorran- The Whole Caboodle which she has been performing in festivals worldwide making people laugh and cry of her stories and stage presence. She is also an experienced poet and was nominated to the Nordic Council Literature Prize for “Tireless words” 2016. She was the dubbing director for Sámi versions of FROZEN II and Chihiro -Spirited Away, wrote and directed the shorts Rieban – the Fox 2023, Covida buriid ja bahas beivviid– Covid Side Effects 2020, Beaivvi nieida – Daughter of the Sun 2018, Guovssahas oaidná du- Aurora Keeps an Eye on You2015. She is currently developing a TV-series. She was recently granted the Government Artist Grant and The Tundra Within Me/ Eallogierdu will be her first feature film.
